Arrow Minerals Ltd's (ASX:AMD) new managing director Howard Golden has started in the role this week and will focus on the company’s new priority gold exploration assets in Burkina Faso.

These projects were gained via the company's acquisition of Boromo Gold Ltd in August last year.

Arrow chairman Frazer Tabeart said: “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Howard to the board.

“Howard has the depth and breadth of experience in both West Africa and Australia to guide Arrow in the direction that is aligned with its renewed portfolio of assets.

“The recent Dassa gold discovery demonstrates that Arrow’s strategy is delivering early success and these changes to the board reflect the shifting focus of the company.”

Golden has served as Arrow's chief executive officer since August 2019.

Experience in West Africa

He is a geoscientist with more than 30 years’ experience in exploration across six continents and was part of the teams that discovered the Syama, Oyu Tolgoi, Agbaou and West Musgrave deposits.

Golden has held senior roles in Nordgold, Rio Tinto, BHP and WMC and has operating experience throughout West Africa.

Most recently he has guided Arrow through its transition period that has included the highlight Dassa gold discovery in Burkina Faso.

Transition phase

Resigning executive director Steven Michael spearheaded the Boromo transaction and will continue to consult to the business until the end of April 2020.

Tabeart said: “I want to express my appreciation to Steven for his long and distinguished efforts on behalf of Arrow Minerals, ultimately resulting in the current state of the company featuring an exciting blend of resources and assets with a bright future.

“We wish Steven all the best as he pursues new endeavours.’

Dassa discovery

The company undertook 4,214 metres of maiden drilling at the Divole West exploration permit in western Burkina Faso in January 2020 which resulted in the Dassa gold discovery.

The find returned results including 3 metres at 15.1 g/t gold from 53 metres including 1 metre at 44.7 g/t.

Arrow has since commenced follow-up drilling in a bid to confirm the mineralised zone.
